Other than the Panthéon, Mr. Selfish and I decided to check out the other areas in the 5th Arrondissement. First, we went to the Jardin des Plantes, which is the main botanical garden in Paris. There are several museums and a small zoo, but mostly we just wandered around and enjoyed the great weather.
Next, we went to the Arènes de Lutèce, which are Roman ruins. The ruins were once an amphitheater that used to house up to 15,000 people for gladiatorial combats. Today, it looks like men just play bocce ball there.
Finally, we went to the St. Michel area for dinner. There are numerous restaurants catering to tourists in this area. As a result, these restaurants offer multiple courses for a fair price. Mr. Selfish and I enjoyed moules frites and a set menu of onion soup, duck confit, and creme brulee. The food was average but the prices were definitely affordable!
