Mr. Selfish and I enjoy saying the term “Chumps Élysées” instead of just saying “chumps.” So, we definitely ventured to the Champs Élysées in the 8th Arrondissement and said “Chumps Élysées” as often as possible. We didn’t buy anything but just window shopped. We also stopped by Paul for a croissant. Paul is a prolific chain but it has consistently good pastries.

All the way at the end of the Champs-Élysées is the Arc de Triomphe. The Arc honours those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic Wars. There is also the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier from WWI.

Also in the 8th Arrondissement is the Église Saint-Augustin de Paris, which is a church built in the 1860’s and has an eclectic and vaguely Byzantine style. We just happened upon this church, and it was a lovely pit stop.

Don’t forget to check out my recommendations for the other arrondissements in Paris here.
