On our last full day in Barcelona, Mr. Selfish and I visited Park Montjuïc and the Castle of Montjuïc. Both are in the southwestern end of Barcelona and provide great views of Barcelona’s harbor.
We climbed the hill up to Park Montjuïc. There were great views along the way, and we tried to find a view with sangria but there was none to be had.
It took us about 2 hours to walk all the way to the castle. It was only later that I learned that you could take a gondola instead of walking.
We enjoyed the castle, which was surprisingly empty. Apparently, the castle used to hold political prisoners and was the site of numerous executions.
Needless to say, we took the gondola down.
This concludes our posts on Barcelona. Tomorrow, we’ll start our road trip around the south of Spain with our first stop in Valencia.
