What’s there to do in paradise? Surprisingly lots at the Conrad Rangali in the Maldives.
Snorkeling Around the House Reef
First of all, the house reef is awesome. While Mr. Selfish and I haven’t mastered our GoPro camera yet, take our word for it – the house reef is full of fish and colorful coral.
To get to the house reef, you should walk to Beach Villa #220 and start swimming straight out into the ocean. At that point, you’ll be swimming in between an opening in the reef. After a little while, there is a huge 60 feet drop, and you can see lots of marine life.
Free Happy Hour at Vilu
Every day from 5-6pm, there is a free happy hour for Hilton Gold and Diamond members. You can order free unlimited drinks, including beer, wine, the cocktail of the day, and soft drinks.
At the end of happy hour, you also get a free canapé, which ranged from langoustine, beef, and chicken while we were there. All of them were tasty but the langoustine was my favorite.
Free Afternoon Tea at Mandhoo Spa Restaurant
Every day from 4-5pm, you can enjoy free afternoon tea at Mandhoo Spa Restaurant. You get your choice of Dilmah tea and you can nibble on a variety of cookies and snacks.
Because it was quite hot while we were there and I wasn’t too keen on drinking hot tea, we didn’t make it to afternoon tea that often. Nevertheless, it is free and the view from the restaurant is lovely.
Facials and Massages at the Spa
At the arrival lounge in Male, Mr. Selfish and I received a coupon for a 30 minute massage and 30 minute facial for $95 USD at the Conrad spa. Even though this is more expensive than we would like to pay, we opted to give it a try.
We didn’t regret it. The spa’s surroundings are beautiful.
Further, the spa facilities are luxurious. The waiting area is nice, and we enjoyed some tea and treats while we waited for our attendants.
After a few minutes, we were escorted down a hallway and shown to our private overwater bungalow massage and facial room.
The massage and facial were worth it. It’s nice to get a little pampering done while you’re in paradise.
Other Activities: the Gym and Water Sports
Finally, there is a gym that you can use. We didn’t actually use it but it looked well-equipped though small.
You can also rent equipment for water sports, which we also didn’t do this but it looked fun enough.
Tomorrow, I’ll go over the ultimate activity in the Maldives – swimming with whale sharks.
