8th Arrondissement, Arc de Triomphe, Église Saint-Augustin de Pari, Champs Élysées, France, Paris, Paul

Mr. Selfish and I enjoy saying the term “Chumps Élysées” instead of just saying “chumps.” So, we definitely ventured to the Champs Élysées in the 8th Arrondissement and said “Chumps Élysées” as often as possible. 8th Arrondissement, France, Musée Cernuschi, Paris, Petit Palais

After going to the Grand Palais on Nuit Blanche, I knew that I also had to go to the Petit Palais, which is across the street from the Grand Palais in the 8th Arrondissement. We also wanted to go to the Musée Cernuschi, which is an Asian art musée in the 8th. As a bonus, both of these musées are free.

The Petit Palais is definitely a worthwhile musée to visit. The building was built in 1900 for the Universal Exhibition. Today, it houses the City of Paris Museum of Fine Arts. The Petit Palais has an outside courtyard and garden, in which you can drink coffee and have snacks. The first floor of the Petit Palais had interesting pieces and sculptures. There is also a painting by Monet of the Seine.

8th Arrondissement, France, Grand Palais, Louvre, Musee des Arts Decoratifs, Nuit Blanche, Paris, Rain

Nuit Blanche is an annual all-night art festival in Paris. During this one evening, which is typically in October, museums are opened until the wee hours of the morning with free admission and art exhibits are on display throughout the city. Mr. Selfish and I were lucky enough to be in Paris for Nuit Blanche 2012, which was on October 6th. We went with my little Parisian cousin, Lisa, and had a blast – despite the rain.

First, we headed to the Grand Palais. It is located on the Champs-Élysées in the 8th arrondissement. I always admired the building and figured we would take advantage of the free admission during Nuit Blanche. The line was quite long, but it was still early in the evening so the line moved quickly. We were only in line for about 20 minutes.
