Disney, Disney World, Disney's Hollywood Studios, Florida, Hollywood Studios, Muppet*Vision 3D, North America, Orlando, Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Selfish Year, Selfish Years, The Great Movie Ride, Tower of Terror, United States
Hollywood Studios is dedicated to the heyday of Hollywood during the 1930’s and 1940’s. Mr. Selfish and I enjoy walking around the fake sets and posing for photos.
The Great Movie Ride: Heckling is Fun
We love the campiness of the Great Movie Ride, as well as the fact that there is hardly ever a line for it. The ride takes you through classic Hollywood films, including Indian Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark, Singin’ in the Rain, and the Wizard of Oz. The ride operator interacts with the riders, and therefore, you can heckle them, which is always fun.
Sunset Boulevard: Thrilling Rides
The area known as Sunset Boulevard has the two most thrilling rides at Hollywood Studios – Tower of Tower and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster featuring Aerosmith. Tower of Tower is themed after the Twilight Zone and is basically an elevator ride that drops unexpectedly. Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster is a roller coaster set to Aerosmith songs. Both rides are excellent and must-dos if you visit Hollywood Studios.
Muppet*Vision 3D: Because You Love Muppets
I remember riding Muppet*Vision 3D as a middle schooler. I don’t think that the ride has been updated since that time, but it doesn’t matter because Muppets rock, and Muppets in 3D rock even more.
Toy Story Midway Mania!: Riding It All Over the World
In Pixar Land, you can ride Toy Story Midway Mania! Mr. Selfish and I have ridden every single version there is in the world, and it is always fun. I would recommend obtaining the Fast Pass for Midway Mania as soon as you arrive at Hollywood Studios or you’ll be waiting for quite a while.
Star Tours: Updated Finally
I don’t have any photos of the updated Star Tours but it is much improved. I would recommend riding it if you get the chance.
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights: Christmas Time Fun
Finally, around Christmas time, you can visit Hollywood Studios to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, which has million of lights set to blink to music. The light display was originally located in a residential neighborhood in Little Rock, Arkansas. After the Osbornes lost a lawsuit filed by several neighbors who complained about traffic generated by the lights, the Osborne family agreed to move it to Hollywood Studios.
Although Disney’s Hollywood Studios has some fun rides, it is probably my least favorite park in Disney World. Nevertheless, it is still better than most other non-Disney parks in the world.
Once again, I apologize for the lack of photos in this post. As I mentioned yesterday, I never took that many photos at Hollywood Studios since I always figured I would be going back.
In tomorrow’s post, I’ll go over Magic Kingdom, the most visited theme park in the world.
